The inclusion of bronze within a timepiece has become a popular choice. From full bronze cases, to embellishments or decorative additions, the metal makes for a beautiful look within timepieces. For those who are partial to the vintage aesthetic, bronze manages to encapsulate the beauty of the vintage look on dress watches, but can also look extremely modern when paired with more contemporary styles.
The warm tone of bronze is flattering, and bronze timepieces would sit well in many watch collections, becoming staple pieces that are stylish and versatile. The material boasts properties that are highly useful within the horology world including anti-magnetic properties, and a resistance to saltwater corrosion.
The most intriguing property of bronze however, is the fact that it is ever-changing. Due to the nature of the metal, and the oxidisation of it, bronze develops a beautiful patina over time, and each one will be unique to the wearer. Things like how many times you wear the piece, to your skin temperature and more can all have an effect on the way bronze shifts in colour, resulting in a piece that is almost personalised to the individual. We have highlighted some of our favourite bronze pieces below.

TAG Heuer Autavia 42mm Mens Watch
TAG Heuer launched a range of new Autavia watches at the beginning of 2020 (link to article) that were inspired by their Autavia models of the 1960s. The watches were originally known for their rugged and masculine designs, and were ideal for the active lifestyles, and their successors were just as sporty, stylish and versatile. Of the models, two of these pieces featured bronze cases. This TAG Heuer Autavia featured has a 42mm fine-brushed case that sits on a black leather strap.
The khaki smoked dial brings an interesting and complementary aesthetic to the piece, and works well in combination with the richness of the bronze.
