Gucci’s G-Timeless Automatic line takes a different direction this year, with eight stunning new timepieces each with a stone dial featuring the Italian house’s recurring bee motif. The bee has become something of a symbol for the brand since it first appeared in its collection a few years ago, and it’s used to really playful effect on these new models.
Since taking over as Gucci’s creative director in 2015, Alessandro Michele has unleashed a menagerie of insects and animals on to the fashion scene, with everything from birds, butterflies, snakes and bees fluttering, slithering and buzzing their way through the house’s collections. They’ve been a real hit since they first started appearing on the brand’s Swiss-made watches, and the new G-Timeless Automatic models are no exception.
This steel G-Timeless Automatic has real presence on the wrist, thanks to its 38mm case size, while its black onyx dial oozes class. Inside ticks an automatic movement that is visible through the sapphire-crystal case back. Meanwhile, the interlocking G motif – so instantly recognisable as Gucci – features on the strap’s adjustable buckle. The watch will be available at Goldsmiths from June, priced at £1,400.
